ZVISHAVANE-Red hot Zvishavane based FC Platinum seek to cement their position at the top of the Castle Lager Premier League when they meet an unpredictable Nichrut FC from Shurugwi in a mouth-watering Midlands derby that is scheduled for this Saturday at the Midlands capital home of football, Ascot Stadium in Gweru.
Pure Platinum Play are perched at the summit of the 16 team log with five points separating them from fellow platinum miners Ngezi Platinum who lost to relegation threatened Bulawayo City last week on Saturday.
FC Platinum last week on Saturday easily dismissed fading giants Dynamos 2 nil thanks to early goals from Mkhokheli Dube and reigning soccer star Rodwell Chinyengetere who banged his 15th league goal of the season to cement his top goal scorer position.
Meanwhile, Nichrut are out of the relegation zone and the new comers are a hard to beat at Ascot.
Nichrut FC media liaison officer Dheliwe Mhaka said they are expecting a tough game, but they are ready for the champions whom they narrowly lost to in their last encounter
Last week Nichrut played one all draw against Bulawayo Chiefs to move three places above the relegation zone.
“Last time we played FC Platinum they defeated us through a penalty, but now we have upped our game this weekend we are going to pull a fight as we need the points to be clear from the relegation zone”, she said.
Nichrut will rely on the Prince Rodrick Mutuma to bang in the goals for them and for the platinum miners the reliable Chinyengetere will carry the burden to score for the champions as most of the strikers have gone on sabbatical of scoring goals.
The FC Platinum gaffer, Norman Mapeza has continued to say they are playing each game as it comes and are not fazed by the other teams’ performance.
