    Zvishavane woman steals baby to save marriage

    ZVISHAVANE – A woman from Highlands Suburb in Zvishavane has been sentenced to 840 hours community service after she stole a seven-month baby in a bid to save her collapsing marriage.
    Ruth Sibanda (23) appeared before Magistrate Shephard Mjanja facing charges of unlawful possession of a baby. She pleaded guilty as charged.
    It is the State case that sometime in June this year Sibanda met the complainant at Sungano Apostolic Church at COMOIL open space and became friends. Accused introduced herself as Rutendo Shumba from Dadaya High school which was a lie.
    She would from then on sleep at the complainant's house.
    On August 7 she went to the complainant's house and found her with her two daughters Mieto Gumbo (15) and Mary Moyo who is seven months old. She stayed at the house for three days. On August 9 the accused was left with the two daughters as the complainant went to buy some groceries. The accused sneaked away with the baby.
    She was arrested by the Police after several days.
    She was ordered to do 840 hours community service at Lundi Clinic.
