Zanu PF MP sues wife for theft

MVUMA - Daniel Garwe who is the Zanu PF MP for Murehwa North has reported his estranged wife to the Police, accusing her of stealing property at their Rhodesdale Farm in Sebakwe.
Garwe is accusing his wife of more than 20 years, Miriam Liliethy Garwe and two other farm workers of stealing 50 tonnes of maize and a borehole pump.
The report was made at the Mvuma Police Station under C/R numbers 24/08/18 and 25/08/18 respectively.
The accusation comes after Garwe's bid to evict his wife from the farm hit a brick wall. High Court Judge, Justice Chitakunye  ruled out  that neither Garwe nor his wife  should  take property from  the farm before the final ruling on their divorce interdict.
Miriam refused to comment on the matter when the Mirror approached her for comment.
"I am not at liberty to discuss my personal affairs with the media. I cannot comment," she said.
However, reliable sources within the Police told The Mirror that Miriam was summoned for questioning on the matter on Thursday last week and has since given a statement to the Police.
Garwe's farm workers who spoke to The Mirror said the farm was mainly being utilised for cattle ranching and not maize production hence the accusations that they had stolen 50 tonnes of maize were malicious.
They argued that they had not been paid for more than two years hence his accusations were meant to stop them from taking a legal course to challenge him over non-payment of salaries.
The workers Kingson Kapaluka and Taurai Tirivaviri the supervisor are some of the workers who told The Mirror that they were not paid.
Efforts to get a comment from Garwe were in vain.
