    We had no relish at home- goat thief tells court

    SHURUGWI – A man from Ndaba Village under Chief Banga in Shurugwi left the court in stitches when he said he stole a goat because his family did not have relish at home.
    Amos Kwande (18) appeared before Magistrate Sangster Tavengwa facing a stock theft charge. The incident happened on September 5, 2018.
    Kwande said the family had mealie meal but did not have relish. He and his brother-in-law therefore decided to go out and find some and they went to Themba Mhlanga's residence where they stole a goat. They skinned it and put it on the fire but they were arrested before they got the opportunity to eat the meat.
    The State said on September 5 2018, at around midnight Kwande went to Mhlanga's goat pen, opened it and selected one brown she goat and disappeared into the darkness of the night.
