    Tawonezvi scoops top Megafest award

    •    Council reduces audit backlog from six to two years
    •    Salary backlog to be cleared by Sept 2018


    SHURUGWI - Shurugwi Town Council finance director, Charles Tawonezvi has won the Best Head of Treasury in the Local Authorities Award.
    Tawonezvi scooped the award at the Megafest 2018 Awards held at Cresta Lodge in Harare on August 23, 2018.
    Tawonezvi who has been with Shurugwi Town Council for the past seven year said that Shurugwi has a sound management system of funds and this was recognised by the Megafest team.
    "We have a sound management system of our funds. Our council used to have a six-year backlog on audit of books and we have reduced this to two years. We are confident that we will by the end of this year be up to date with our audits.
    "We also use to have salary arrears of 10 months and we are clearing this to zero arrears by September this year. I am glad that our hard work has been recognised," said Tawonezvi.
    Tawonezvi who is a holder of B COM in Accounting from India (1998); CIS (charted institute of secretaries) (1998); Masters in Strategic Management CUT (2014) is working towards a PHD in Finance.
