    Race open for ZIFA regional elections

    CHIREDZI- The election road map for the ZIFA national board is now in full swing as the mother body has opened nominations for elections for the four regions (Eastern, Northern, Central and Southern)  which administer Division 1 football in the country.
    This was confirmed by the ZIFA communications manager, Xolisani Gwesela on the phone from Harare.
    "We have opened nominations for the four regions in preparation for their elections to be held on October 14 which will culminate in the national elections for the national board on December 1," said Gwesela.
    He added that aspiring candidates will fork out $700 for those who intend to contest as board members and for those vying for the post of vice chair they will part with $800 while those who want to be chair will pay $900 to the mother body.
    Gwesela also said those who would have served as football administrators for five years and above are eligible for nomination into the regional boards.
    "In addition to the five years' experience one should be nominated by three clubs for the post in the board, they should also be cleared by the Police for any criminal record," added Gwesela.  
    The current Eastern Region board is made up of Chiredzi based Davison Muchena as chairman, Cyrill Mukweva as vice chairman, Wisdom Simba secretary, Farai Rutsvara as secretary for finance, Patient Dube fixtures secretary, Simon Mushangwa as board member development and Thadeous Machawira who mans the secretariat as an ex-officio member. 
    Meanwhile, members of the ZIFA Masvingo Province board comprising of Nabioth Magwizi, vice chairman Energy Zava, committee members Tinos Chivasa, Collins Munemo, Tinashe Hatidanane and James Macheka were declared duly elected unopposed by the ZIFA electoral committee in Gweru recently.
