    Mtshabezi man steals, slaughters 9 goats


    GWANDA - Nkosiyabo Ndlovu (21) of Mtshabezi Village in Gwanda who together with two accomplices went around slaughtering goats from different goat houses and loading the meat into a Honda Fit has been sentenced to two years in prison.
    The case was heard by Gwanda magistrate Nomagugu Ncube. The nine goats were stolen from five different homesteads in Mtshabezi and Wabayi villages.
    Two of Ndlovu's accomplices who committed the crime on July 22, 2018, are at large.
    It is the State case that the trio drove into the villages stealing a total of nine goats which they slaughtered at the owners places. The court heard that some of the carcasses were left in the goat houses after the trio ran away from the owners of the goats.
    The trio was traced from the last complainant's place who heard the noise of the goats and alerted neighbours. The suspects were traced using the registration number of the Honda Fit that had been noted down.
    Ndlovu was sentenced to 24 months in prison. Ten months were suspended on condition that he is not convicted of a similar offence in the next five years. Nine months were suspended on condition that he restitutes $460 to the complainants and the remaining 10 months were suspended on condition that he completes 350 hours community service at Mtshabezi Hospital .
