MASVINGO- Manica Diamonds FC who are yet to test defeat in the ZIFA Eastern Region D1 league have opened a 15 point lead over closet rivals Tenax FC after beating Mwenezana by a solitary goal while the latter drew nil all against Prime Rangers.
The Luke 'Vahombe' Masomere coached Gem Boys have won 17 games, drew three and have only conceded only 8 goals while pumping 45 past their opponents in the 20 games that they have played.
If Manica Diamonds finish the season without a loss it would be the second time that a team from the region has performed such a feat after Moses 'Bambo' Chunga did the same with lowveld based Hippo Valley FC in 2013.
Speaking to The Mirror, Vahombe who was oozing with confidence said promotion into the Castle Lager Premiership was for them to lose.
"We have set a record for ourselves of 17 wins and 3 draws and we don't want to end the season with a loss. We are not resting because of the widening gap between us and the closet rivals, we will continue to do well until the last game," said Vahombe.
On Sunday the Gem Boys are away to 11th placed Masvingo based United Lions where they aim to collect maximum points.
