GWANDA – Gwanda Town Council has announced that it will soon introduce E billing for institutions and corporate clients.
The move was announced by town clerk, Priscilla Nkala to The Mirror on the sidelines of the recent Gwanda Agricultural Show.
She said the new billing is about sending statements through the email.
"E-billing in our instance, essentially is the use of information communication technology (lCT) in facilitating the billing process for our local authority using email addresses for those willing to receive their bills through email as a way of going paperless," she said .
The council appealed to residents attending the show to bring their emails addresses through relevant offices.
Nkala said she was aware that the new system would not be convenient for the technologically challenged residents hence it will run alongside the current system. She said that the E-system is mainly for the institutions.
"We are accommodating those who have embraced the value of lCT within their business operations especially corporations and institutions. We are extending this service to those who need it including individuals. The old paper system and the new electronic system will work," said Nkala.
She assured workers that the E-system will not cause retrenchments.
