    Gutu woman gets 1 year for pouring boiling water on hubby

    GUTU – Travel Wedzerai (24)  of Mugodhi Village under Chief Chimombe in Gutu has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after pouring boiling water on her hubby on suspicion that he was having an extramarital affair.
    She was convicted and sentenced by Gutu Resident Magistrate Victor Mohammed and four months were suspended for five years on condition that she does not commit a similar offence. She will effectively serve eight months in jail.
    The husband, Waltson Chitsiku (26) suffered serious burns. He was attacked after he had retired to bed.
    It is the State case that on July 5, 2018 Chitsiku left home at around 7pm for Muradza Village to see a friend and came back at 9pm. He then received a love message from Violet Ndakaripei and his wife got angry.
    Chitsiku ignored his wife's complaints and proceeded to bed. Wedzerai then boiled water and poured it over Chitsiku's face while he was asleep.
    Neighbours who heard him screaming rushed him to the hospital.
    Wedzerai was arrested the following day and charged with domestic violence.
