MASVINGO-Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs, Ezra Chadzamira has pledged 50 hectares for the establishment of an academy for all sporting disciplines.
Chadzamira made the pledge at the Simon V. Muzenda annual sports festival prize giving ceremony held at the Masvingo Sports Club last week on Saturday where he was the guest of honour.
"I have heard your plea and be rest assured that land is already available for the establishment of a sporting academy. Because of devolution there is no need to go to Harare for approval, we now do it here on our own after  President Mnangagwa said provinces must make decisions on their own to speed up development. The Province is now open for business and such things as land for an academy should not be a problem" said Chadzamira.
Land will be alocated ten kilometres away from town.
Chadzamira also challenged the Muzenda Foundation to go beyond Masvingo Province with sporting festivities since the late Vice President was a national figure.
The Muzenda Foundation is spearheaded by Ephraim Mashingaidze and Captain Vitalis Muzenda with the assistance of his wife Nelly Muzenda.
The sporting festivities have been running for the past five years and they now incorporate golf, tennis and cricket.
The foundation also pays school fees for 13 pupils at Victoria Junior, Don Bosco and Francis Aphiri primary schools. The pupils also participated in the golf tournament.
