BEITBRIDGE- Beitbridge Rural District Council has proposed a $2,45m budget for the 2019 financial year, according to official sources.
    The $2 453 319 is a 21,8% jump from the $2 014 143 for the current 2018 financial year.
Beitbridge RDC administrator Peter Ncube said the local authority in the semi-arid district found in Mat South has already started consultations with residents on the budget proposal.
The consultations are running for four days which end tomorrow.
The consultations which are a requirement according to the Rural District Council Act started on Tuesday this week. The objective is to ensure that residents' needs are incorporated into the budget before it goes to the Ministry for approval.
Ncube said a significant chunk of the budget; $420 000 is coming from ZINARA for road maintenance.
Tariffs remained the same and all that has increased are penalties to those who run private cattle sales without council authorization. These had gone up from 20 to 35 %.
"We are at a consultation stage, the figure has not changed from this year." said Ncube.
Ncube added that they have four sub offices and they have grouped the wards into the four segments where ward 1, 2 and 3 are serviced from Chasvingo sub office which becomes the centre for the three wards. Ward 4,5, 6,13 and 15 are serviced from Lutumba, ward 7,8 and 9 are serviced from Toporo but the sub offices are in Shashe business Centre in ward 8, and ward 10, 11,12 and 14 are serviced from Zezani.
