BEITBRIDGE - Alpha International Land Developers, a leading Zimbabwean housing company has started a new project in Beitbridge where 1 000 core houses are being built on stands ranging in size from 300 to 450m2
The scheme is near Dulivhadzimu Extension about 3.km west of the CBD.
Alpha International Land Developers managing director, Jonathan Majinyori Gapare said the houses will be of the highest standards. He said the project known as Gaps Heights will match housing schemes found in Musina in South Africa.
Clients will buy the houses through a pay-for-your-house scheme with a repayment period of six years. Negotiations are underway with a number of banks to fund  mortgages to residents.
Some 1 000 stands have been surveyed so far and 10 houses have been built.
"We are on the ground, we have so far constructed 10 houses and servicing is in progress. We have packed, tackle surveyed the area and we are on the ground to open the roads to the satisfaction of residents," said Gapare.
Gaps Heights comes together with commercial stands where schools, a clinic, a state of the art library, a swimming pool, a club, churches, a shopping mall, beer hall and 29 shops will be built on a 90 hectares piece of land.
Gapare said, the company is building two, three and four-roomed houses depending on a client's income and a deposit of 35 percent is required.
"This is under the scheme medium density suburb standards but our imagination is on a low density suburb. We are drilling boreholes, installing solar panels and we want to ensure that the water and sewer system is intact" said Gapare.
Alpha International is not new to this business as it has had similar projects in Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Gwanda and Beitbridge. The company is being led by Gapare who is a seasoned banker.
"We are not new in Beitbridge, we started building houses in the 1990s. Here in Beitbridge we built 400 two-roomed houses at Mashavire area, the place which is commonly known as kumaAlpha kwaGapare.  Many house owners have since extended the houses.
"We are proud to say that all the houses we built have passed the test, there is not one that has been condemned or destroyed for one reason or another," he said
In Beitbridge, the company also built houses at the new stands near St Joseph Government Secondary school and the servicing of the stands was done by the local authority.
In Gwanda, Gapare also built a shopping center in Spitzkoop residential area.
In Bulawayo he built houses at Cowdray Park, Pumula South, Nketa, Mahachula low density, Selbourne Park and in Gweru he built houses in Nehosho which were funded by CABS. In Harare he built houses in Hatcliff.
