CHIREDZI – The Commercial Sugarcane Farmers Association of Zimbabwe, the biggest representative organisation of sugarcane farmers in Zimbabwe has suspended its administrator, Jairos Masiye barely eight months after he was recruited.
The development is seen as a harbinger of the governance problems that CSFAZ is going through.
CSFAZ Chairman Admore Hwarare confirmed the development and said Masiye was suspended on allegations of misconduct that could have resulted in financial prejudice. Hwarare also accused Masiye of failing to abide by his contract.
He is also accused of failing to arrange a meeting of farmers ahead of Chiwenga's trip to Chiredzi.
CSFAZ has two outstanding cases in the courts where Daniel Tsingo a former Chief Executive Officer is suing the organization for $500 000  and another dismissed administrator is demanding $108 000 for a case that happened three years ago.
Masiye is on a 30 day suspension with full benefits and will be called for a hearing after the expiry of his suspension.
"We suspended our administrator for misconduct. He caused financial prejudice to the association and also tarnished its image. He also failed to call for a crucial meeting which was meant to prepare for Vice President Constantino Chiwenga's visit that took place on July 15, 2018.
"He has failed to make a single research on sugarcane as agreed in his contract and has not been able to supervise his subordinates. He is suspended on full benefits and will be back for a hearing after 30 days," said Hwarare.
Masiye confirmed his suspension but referred all questions to his employer.
