GMB Gutu supervisor in court for fraud

GUTU- Lilian Mupati (43) of Chomufuli Location appeared before Magistrate Victor Mohamadi on Monday facing fraud charges after she allegedly attempted to defraud her employer by making a false maize delivery note worth $1 306.60.
Mupati is a security supervisor at Gutu Grain Marketing Board.
Prosecutor Millicent Azangwe said that on August 15, 2018 Mupati presented a false delivery note with serial number 372122 of 60, 50kg bags of maize. The calim was made under the name Makore Makore.
Mupati also indicated the delivery truck as ACR 9604 and a false transaction entry number 107 was endorsed.
She took maize samples to Moffat Chasema for grading and recommendation. The latter smelt a rat as he did not see any truck entering the gate.
Mupati then took the delivery note to the accounts department and was issued with a payment voucher number 0700184.
Information later came out that Mupati had made a false delivery note and the matter was reported to Police and investigations were carried out leading to her arrest.
She paid $70 bail and she will appear again in court on August 27, 2018.
