Buhera RDC to act on Birchenough Bridge vendors as health disaster looms

    NYASHA MUSAMBASI

BUHERA - Buhera Rural District Council (RDC) engineer, Patrick Chingwende has vowed to remove 124 illegal vendors at Birchenough Bridge GrowthPoint because the situation there is now a ticking health time bomb.
Chingwende told Buhera RDC full council meeting that the vendors will be evicted as soon as prohibition orders are served on them.
Councillors in attendance however, questioned why Birchenough was being targeted for evictions when all service centres including Murambinda, the biggest growth point in the district flooded with vendors.
Chingwende said the situation at Birchenough Bridge was now out of hand. He said the place had become a serious health hazard and an eyesore.
"The illegal vendors and tuckshop owners at Birchenough Bridge Growth Point should be evicted because we cannot let chaos by illegal vendors continue like this. There are 124 of them and the situation has become a ticking health time bomb which needs instant action to be taken. As a committee we have agreed to issue them with prohibition orders to vacate the places," said Chingwende.
