Zanu PF chairman runs over party supporter

MASVINGO RURAL – An elderly party supporter, Lilian Magade suffered a broken ankle after a senior Zanu PF official ran over her with a car during a stampede for clothes at a rally, The Mirror has been told.
Police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula said she had not received the report when contacted for comment.
However, sources said Magade (73) was run over by Zanu PF provincial chairman for Masvingo Ezra Chadzamira at a rally held in Masvingo West under Chief Charumbira's area.
Magade confirmed the incident from her hospital bed and said the shock she got after being ran over  was traumatising. "I felt like my leg had twisted 360 degrees," she said.
Chadzamira promised to call back when asked for a comment but did not until the time of going to Press.
Sources said that Magade who suffered a broken ankle when Chadzamira ran over her with the latest Ford Ranger 4x4 donated to him  by the party is admitted at Masvingo General Hospital. Chadzamira is also the current MP for the constituency and he is battling to retain the seat.
"Lillian Magade is admitted at Masvingo Provincial Hospital in the female surgical ward since Saturday where she is nursing a broken ankle sustained at a rally in Chief Charumbira area after being run over by Chadzamira.
"She was tripped by other supporters who were rushing to get party T-shirts and wrapping clothes (Zambia) which were being given for free at the rally. She fell down while Chadzamira was driving towards her. Her leg is now in plaster. "She is recovering well and may soon be discharged from Hospital," said a source.
Cases of supporters injured at rallies while stampeding for party regalia are quite common.
