    Hungwe applauds Tongaat’s community responsibility programmes

    CHIREDZI – The Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs Josiah Hungwe has applauded Tongaat Hulett Zimbabwe for its socio-corporate responsibility programmes.
    Speaking in Triangle on Thursday last week during the handover of winter maize produced through a joint venture between Tongaat Hulett, Masvingo Development Trust (MDT) and Command Agriculture Hungwe said Tongaat management must be given longer life for the good that they do for the community in addition to the contribution to the economy of the country.
     "Tongaat Hulett`s footprint in the corporate social responsibilities is applauded. It cuts across irrigation, infrastructure development, health, education and civic protection among others," said Hungwe.
    Tongaat managing director Sydney Mutsambiwa said $395 652 was invested in the maize project which was a joint partnership between three players. He said the investment was shared between Triangle $179 781 on a cost recovery basis and Masvingo Development Trust $215 871 which saw the realization of 1394,8 tons after harvesting which will be shared as follows MDT (933,8 tons) and Triangle (461 tons).
