    Former Delta manager Muzvanya is no more

    MASVINGO – Prominent business captain and former Delta Corporation manager, Samson Muzvanya (63) has died.
    Muzvanya who was a Coca Cola brand manager died suddenly on Sunday when he was out on duty in Zvishavane where the Under 15 boys and Under 17 girls Copa Coca Cola finals were taking place.
    He was buried at the Lawn Cemetery in Masvingo on Tuesday. Speakers at the burial said Muzvanya complained of breathing difficulties that started when he was sleeping at a local hotel in Zvishavane.
    He woke up some colleagues booked at the same hotel and asked them to take him to hospital and he was driven in his car. At the hospital his colleagues went out to look for nurses but found Muzvanya dead on returning to the car.
    In a statement to The Mirror, Delta Corporation said that Muzvanya joined United Bottlers, a division of Delta in the late 70s in Masvingo as an accounts officer, a position he held for five years. It was not difficult for Muzvanya to join the company because of his immense talent as a footballer.
    He was promoted to an accountant of the same organisation and held the position for another four years before he was elevated to general manager.
    He left Delta in 2002 after the organisation restructured and joined Mutare Bottling in 2003 as a sales and marketing manager and worked for Mutare Bottling for 10 years and retired in 2013.
    "Sam will be remembered for his passion and immense contribution to the Coca Cola brand," said Patracia Murambinda corporate affairs executive.
    Hundreds of people from all walks of life attended the funeral held at Muzvanya's Rhodhene home.
    Muzvanya who was popularly referred to as mukoma Sam was born on July 5, 1955 in a family of five. He went to Chikato Primary School and then Mucheke Secondary School.
    Friends and relatives who gave testimonies described Muzvanya as a man of integrity who was humble. He was a devout Christian who was a leader in the Salvation Army.  He socialised with people from all social classes and his friendship with the late lawyer Thomas Makonese was mentioned in several testimonies.
    His role in the Copa Coca Cola competitions was mentioned. Sam was invited to attend the first –ever Copa Coca-Cola International in Brazil, where 116 teens from 28 countries came together for five days of training, friendly competition, camaraderie and service.
    "He had love for everyone and he would always be remembered as someone who had solutions to any problem that came his way in the Muzvanya family," said his son Tatenda Muzvanya
    Muzvanya is survived by his wife and four children and two grandchildren. He was married Mercy Chademana.
