Shurugwi Division 3 League match abandoned after violent clashes

    TINASHE TIRIVAVI

SHURUGWI- An otherwise exciting match pitting ZRP Shurugwi and Dynamic FC at Chironga Village was on Saturday last week was abandoned after a nasty altercation between two players and some fans in the 84th minute.
Dylan Jongwe of ZRP Shurugwi FC and Mutadza of Dynamic FC were red carded before the match was called off by referee after they were involved in an altercation on the pitch which caused the fans to invade the pitch.
ZRP Shurugwi FC was trailing 2-1 when the game was called off.
Tapiwa Kangira from Dynamic FC was arguably the best player of the day as he controlled the ball with precision each time he got it and it was not surprising when he got the ball at the back of the net in the 35th minute and restored their lead again in the 70th minute after Calvin Mushonga had equalised for ZRP Shurugwi FC in the 43rd minute.
ZRP Shurugwi FC gaffer Job Chiko said that their performance on the day was largely affected by some of their star players who could not make it in the line up after sustaining injuries on the previous matches.
"Our game on the day was affected by several factors such as injuries to our key players and the pitch invasion that made the game to be called off towards the end. Otherwise it was a good game," said Chiko.
On the abandoned match a ZIFA  board member on competitions and fixtures Brian Musundire  said they are yet to get a report from the refrees  and present it to the board.
