EMA orders Tongogara RDC to build dumpsite

SHURUGWI - Shurugwi Environmental Management Authority (EMA) Severino Kangara has urged Tongogara Rural District Council to build standard dumpsites for Tongogara and Chachacha business centres respectively in order to prevent diseases outbreaks
Kangara noted that council is currently dumping rubbish anywhere at the two business centres and this was not proper.
"You should stop dumping waste everywhere and build dumpsites for your two main business centres. You are currently causing a lot of pollution because you have no dumpsites," said Kangara
Tongogara RDC CEO Brian Rufasha, however told the meeting that the local authority has already started the process and has since identified the two sites.
"We sent our engineer to Marondera to see the type of dump site we want and I believe by now he has the designs for the dump sites, we have already identified the two sites we are going to build our dumpsites," said Rufasha.
Rufasha added that due to financial constrains the local authority will do one dumpsite at a time and they will start with Chachacha.
"We will due to financial challenges not be able to do both sites at once but we will start the one at Chachacha," said Rufasha.
