     Charamaba visits Masvingo Fitness Centre
MASVINGO- The permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services as a well as the presidential spokesman, George Charamba has implored fitness trainers in Masvingo to also spread the budget aerobics to rural areas.
Charamba said this during a brief stopover in Masvingo when he visited Masvingo Fitness Centre at the CSC Complex on Saturday last week on his way to Harare from Beitbridge.
Sensei Douglas Machingauta is the technical director of Masvingo Fitness Centre which was established last year with the aim of keeping residents fit at low cost as one only requires sneakers, T-shirt and track bottom for the aerobics.
There are over 30 students who take part in the physical fitness training and their age groups range from five to 70 years.
"This is a noble idea as there is not much that goes into the aerobics, it is a low cost program which keeps the nation fit which is less costly to the nation as the health bill goes down as well.
"I challenge you to take this program to the rural areas as well so that everyone can benefit especially the young people who must stay fit, in my life I have only been in hospital once after I suffered a shoulder dislocation and I attribute that to regular fitness training," said Charamba who is a 2nd Kyu (Blue belt) holder in Shotokai Karate.
He also pledged to support the Centre in recording and securing funds so that they can expand and allow more people to join.
"Write a project proposal with the assistance of (Rogers) Irimayi the provincial information officer and send it to me and then I will ensure that you get financial help, there are also about 48 cameras that are lying idle at the Ministry and if you put your house in order you can access them for recording your activities for airing on TV, as we are digitalizing there will be over 24 channels available and that is a lot of airtime which need programs," said Charamba.
Meanwhile, Sensei Douglas took the opportunity to showcase some of the activities that they do at the Centre as well as doing some drills for the audience while others gave testimonies of how the training has improved their health.
"I was on wheel chair since 2014 after suffering a stroke which left me paralysed and unable to do anything and the doctors had written me off. Last year I met Sensei Douglas who recommended that I should join his class for fitness training.
"With doubts I joined and was taught how to walk for the first time and eventually I regained my fitness and now I am back to myself I don't need any assistance , I can even drive from Beitbridge to Harare nonstop," said Isilamu Mahachi a teacher at Kyle College.
Dzidzai Zimbwa wife of Masvingo medical practitioner, Dr Godfrey Zimbwa also said after giving birth she became obese and could not even tie up her shoes, cook and had high blood pressure, but after joining Masvingo Fitness Centre all that has disappeared.

The aerobics class also comprise of MURRA director Anoziva Muguti, Daniel Mugabe of Masvingo Messenger of Court and CSC branch manager Enias Sadzauchi among others.
