BEITBRIDGE – Lichas Group of Hotels which runs under Mangalis Hotel Group Licence has made an offer to run NSSA Beitbridge Hotel which has been closed for two years now because of serious viability problems.
The Mirror has it on good authority that Lichas is ready to open the 140 rooms  for business hotel on September 1, this year.
However, Lichas is seeking change for use of the hotel so that it becomes multi-purpose and will from September incorporate several services that are the hotel, a hotel school, casino and service apartments.
The group wants mixed use facility to cushion the hotel against probable losses. The students for the hotel school are expected to come from all over the SADC region and there will also be customs, logistics and clearing courses done at the hotel.
Lichas Chief Executive Officer Liwes Chasakara referred all questions to NSSA.
NSSA spokesperson Tendai Mutseyekwa asked for questions but could rspond to them as he was out in Vic Falls up to the time the paper went to bed.
The Mirror understands that Lichas has already approached Beitbridge Municipality with its proposals for the changes in use. The hotel used to operate as Beitbridge Rainbow and it was a three star.
