    Shurugwi woman to spend time in jail for assaulting hubby, mother-in-law

     SHURUGWI- A Shurugwi woman who has become notorious for domestic violence after bashing her mother-in-law then her husband will serve an effective six months in jail.
    Ruzvidzo Mdala (32) appeared before Shurugwi Resident Magistrate Sangster Tavengwa facing domestic violence charges. She had assaulted her husband with frozen meat from the fridge and a pot from a hot stove after accusing him of having a girlfriend.
    Ruzvidzo also spat into the face of her husband Chefundi Mdala (36) who is employed by Zesa in Shurugwi.
     Tavengwa sentenced Ruzvidzo to six months in jail after noting that she was not a first offender. Ruzvidzo appeared in court in July 2017 for assaulting her mother-in-law.
    The State said on March 8 2018 at 8pm, in Makusha Shurugwi, Chefundi arrived home and Ruzvidzo showed him the conversation which she had with his girlfriend. Ruzvidzo began to shout at Chefundi.
    She took a 2-litre bottle filled with water and struck her husband once on the left cheek with it, threw a water glass at Chefundi but was blocked by her daughter Ayanda but then spat into his face.
    Chefundi had to escape through the window.
    She has since been released on Friday through the presidential amnesty. crime news
