Mighty FC Platinum fall to new boys

....as Triangle FC continue to collect points on the road

    LEOPOLD MUNHENDE

HARARE-Bulawayo Chiefs tweeted, 'There is no John Cena in football' in reference to their giant slaying act at Luveve Stadium this weekend where they dispatched defending Castle Lager Premier League Champions, FC Platinum 2-0 in what appeared on paper an obvious win for the Midlands miners.
The underdogs tag however did not stop them from scoring two first half goals in a match they stood toe to toe with one of the football giants in the country.
That also meant Pure Platinum Play recorded its first defeat in unlikely fashion.
Lizwe Sweswe standing in place of Norman Mapeza who is reportedly recuperating from an operation after suffering a back injury during a gym session sometime last year, conceded that complacency cost them a game they could have won.
Herentals found the going tough at Ascot Stadium.
Chapungu dispatched them 1-0 via a Bastos Chihowa goal in the 75th minute.
Shabanie were hapless as a classy Bosso dispatched them 3-1 at its Barbourfields fortress in Bulawayo.
This puts them on position 12, a point behind Chapungu on eight points and a further six from lowveld side, Triangle who sit on fourth position.
Triangle's poor start to the season had threatened to derail coach, Taurai Mangwiro's season targets but a surprise turnaround has seen them in the top four now enjoying a purple patch.
On 13 points, Triangle has won four of its seven matches so far having already lost two and registered a draw.
The good thing however, is that Mangwiro has already faced Caps United and Ngezi Platinum, serious title contenders in their own right.
However, it will not be a review if Dynamos is not mentioned.
The premiership giants are struggling despite their explosive pre-season wins.
DeMbare sit second from bottom on three points and are on top of surprise bottom, ZPC Kariba only by goal difference.
If the tables do not change in the coming games there is no doubt that heads will roll at the most successful club in the country.
