    Makanaka Sibanda puts Shabani Primary on the map

    ZVISHAVANE- Nine year old Makanaka Sibanda a grade 3 pupil at Shabani Primary School defied all odds and won the essay writing competition which was run by Zb Bank recently.
     For her efforts Sibanda won $150-00 and $100-00 for the school. She beat other pupils of her age who are in the Zb Bank administrative region which include Zvishavane, Masvingo, and Mberengwa, part of Chirumhanzu, Chiredzi, Nyika, Mwenezi and Chivi. 
    The essays were adjudicated by judges from Harare between November 2017 and April this year.
    Speaking to The Mirror, Zb bank Zvishavane branch Manager Titus Mzondo said he was over the moon by to the performance of Zvishavane schools.
     'I am very much delighted because top prizes in this competition were won by schools from our region. The competitions were divided into four categories in all of the seven administrative regions for Zb Bank. The first was for the infants which was off cause won by Makanaka Sibanda of Shabani Primary who was 8 years old by then.
    "They were asked to write an Essay and the heading was, 'What does sustainable food production mean to you'? The second category was of the juniors which was also went to Sikhululekile Mpofu of Shabanie Mine School. The 3rd and 4th categories were of the secondary pupils which were both won by Pamushana High school in Bikita Masvingo," Mzondo added.
