CHIVHU – ZRP in Chivhu has launched its Patrol Unit in accordance with Section 12 of the Police Act.
The Patrol unit was launched at Garwe stadium on Friday last week by the officer commanding chief superintendent Stephen Baleni
He told residents gathered at the launch that the patrols are important in communities as it allows members of the police to interact with civilians.
"Building police stations is of limited value in  itself, unless it also signifies the consolidation of Police presence among communities.  Policing is about the prevention and reduction of crime in a given area therefore patrols and beats should aim to prevent and reduce crime," he said.
He urged members of the public to be tolerant when dealing with the Police but should approach higher Police offices when not satisfied with the service offered.
Chief Superintendent Baleni also told the gathering that  Police will launch a 24 hour call centre to enable efficient service delivery within the force.
