1 500 Mpatsi villagers to benefit from $55k piped water project

SADZA - More than 1 500 villagers from Mpatsi in Chikomba including a business centre and schools will soon benefit from a $55 000 piped water project to be implemented under the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Programme.
The schools that are to benefit are Chimombe, Mpatsi Primary and Secondary Schools. Mpatsi Clinic and Mpatsi Business Centre will also benefit from the project.
Chikomba District WASH chairperson Tapiwa Mapindu, who is also Chikomba District Development Fund (DDF) water technician said the project which is in Ward 26 will benefit villagers in terms of domestic and agricultural purposes.
He said the construction of the pipeline is to begin soon because engineers have confirmed the viability of the project.
"The thrust of the project is to ensure that locals have adequate and safe water to drink. The capacity of the pipeline is also enough to sustain agricultural uses. More than 15 construction companies have submitted their tenders to our office and once the selection is done, construction will begin," he said.
Mapindu added construction is supposed to be completed by April 30 2018.local news
