Col Mbudzi wife, threatens to take brothers-in-law to court over estate

MASVINGO - The children and wife of the late war veteran and land developer, Colonel Kudzai Mbudzi have threatened to take Mbudzi's brothers to court over control of Treasure Consultancy.
Treasure Consultancy is a multi-million dollar company left behind by Mbudzi that own hundreds of residential stands in several towns and cities throughout the country.
The wife, Shelfer Phiri and children Tsitsi Chido Mbudzi and Gamuchirai Ruvarashe Mbudzi  are questioning the procedure used in the appointment of their father's siblings Mike Mbudzi, Joyce C Mbudzi who is former Kwekwe Poly principal and Tsitsi Zvinowanda as directors of Treasure Consultancy. They complained that the three were benefitting from their directorship of the company at the expense of the wife and the children.
Mike said he is not benefiting anything from the company.
Joyce said he was not in the board that was chosen by the executor and that they were using their funds to revive the company and nobody is getting anything from it. He added that all that they are doing is for the benifit of the deceased's children.
Zvinowanda said she was not aware of the matter before hanging up.
According to a letter seen by The Mirror Mbudzi's wife and children have since engaged a lawyer and threatened to take the siblings to court for assuming the directorship. The letter was written to Obram Trust Company, a company which was appointed as the executor demanding to know the criteria used in appointing the three.
The letter was written by Matutu and Mureri Legal Practitioners who threatened to go to court unless a response is given immediately.
"The estate is supposed to benefit the children of the deceased. They (clients) further instructed us to demand to know the criteria used to appoint these directors who have their own wealth and families. None of them is representing Kudzai Mbudzi's children or their interest. They are representing themselves. We demand that the anomaly be corrected within seven days, failure of which we will approach the courts without further notice," reads part of the letter to Obram Trust.
Allegations are that the rest of the family led by Joyce are trying to wrestle Treasure Consultants from the widow who is already a director of the company..
"There is no wrangle in the family and the estate is yet to be registered with the High Court as per procedure, I was never involved in any bust up with anyone concerning the estate," said Joyce in 2016.
