GWANDA – Two gold panners from Mberengwa were arrested in Gwanda Town on Monday after they were found trying to sell a dead python.
Police spokesperson Ass lns Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident and said Joseph Gumbo (35) and Brian Takavapasamunda (35) killed the python at Sizeze under Chief Mathema where they were panning for gold.
The two came into the Gwanda Town and told some colleagues that they killed a python and they were advised that the reptile was worth large sums of money and the duo hired a taxi to go back and collect the carcass.
Upon arrival in town the driver demanded his fare but Gumbo and Takavapasamunda said they will pay him after selling off their stuff. This raised the taxi driver's curiosity who in turn wanted to see what the duo was carrying but they refused.
