The two came into the Gwanda Town and told some colleagues that they killed a python and they were advised that the reptile was worth large sums of money and the duo hired a taxi to go back and collect the carcass.
Upon arrival in town the driver demanded his fare but Gumbo and Takavapasamunda said they will pay him after selling off their stuff. This raised the taxi driver's curiosity who in turn wanted to see what the duo was carrying but they refused.
The taxi driver drove the two men with their sack to the Police camp with the intention of forcing the two to give him his dues and that is when Police opened the sack and found a python carcass leading to the arrest of the duo.
In her comment Ass Insp Mangena discouraged people to kill protected species since they are in danger of extinction.
