    Shurugwi gold panners steal 300kg gold ore

    SHURUGWI – Two men from Shurugwi have appeared in court facing charges of stealing 300kg of gold ore valued at $400.
    Clever Mutsimba (19) from Mutsimba village and Tatenda Tagwirei (19) from Matsa Village both under Chief Nhema appeared before Shurugwi resident magistrate Sangester Tavengwa on Monday. The ore was stolen from Olympia 18 gold Mine in Shurugwi.
    The State says the ore was stolen on January 4, 2018.
    It is the State case that Mutsimba and Tagwirei in the company of four other accused persons who are still at large entered Olympia 18 Gold Mine shafts and packaged the gold ore in six 50kg empty cement bags.
    Bernard Matemera the mine caretaker discovered the theft on January 5, 2018 at 0900hrs and advised Nkululeko Ngwenyama the mine owner who then made a report at ZRP Shurugwi.
    Mutsimba and Tagwirei were later arrested at the mine site.
