Drama as nurse attends 4 maintenance cases in 1 week

SADZA – Gift Manyati, a nurse at Sadza General Hospital could not hide his weariness after attending four maintenance cases with four different women inside five days.
The process left him with a net salary of only $30.
Manyati's first case was on Monday last week, the second one on Thursday and the third and fourth were both heard at different times on Friday all at Chivhu Magistrates court.
On Friday, Manyati went down on his knees before Magistrate Ngoni Nduna and pleaded with him to stop the fourth case since he had been at the courts the whole week and was left with almost nothing to take home.
On Friday a dejected and frustrated Manyati almost refused to go to court but was advised by colleagues that a default judgment will be more harmful to him.
On Monday, Magistrate Tiyatara ordered Gift Manyati to pay $50 to Chipo Dongo, with whom he has a child.
On Thursday, Magistrate Nduna ordered Manyati to pay $40 maintenance for a five-year-old child he has with Lindiwe Kusvai.
On Friday, Magistrate Nduna ordered Manyati to pay $25 per child for four children he has with his wife Shamiso Mabhiza and the total amount came to $100.
On the same day Magistrate Nduna dismissed Jane Matimbire's maintenance claim. Matimbire has no child with Manyati and Manyati pleaded with the magistrate to dismiss the case arguing that the applicant was only a girlfriend.
Matimbire however, argued that he was the one currently staying with Manyati and because he was looking after him, she was entitled to maintenance.
It was noted that Manyati's salary was committed to other obligations and he had other children whose mothers did make court claims.
