Chivhu Anglican choirmaster dies in church

CHIVHU-  A prominent 70-year old Anglican choirmaster and retired teacher, Noah Matange shocked many after he collapsed and died in church on Sunday morning.
Matange, who died two days before his birthday, was buried at the Chivhu town cemetery on Tuesday.
Chronicling the events of the fateful Sunday to mourners gathered at their Northwood home, his wife Angela said the deceased did not show any signs of illness before his death.
"We usually go to church together but that day, he told me I was running late and he went ahead. When I arrived at church later he appeared very fine," said a teary Angela.
Anglican congregants who spoke to The Mirror said Matange collapsed into his wife's arms as he was demonstrating how to sing some songs in the hymn book just after the service.
He was rushed to Chivhu General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"It was really shocking and very sudden," said one congregant who refused to be named.
"Although he was taken to the hospital after he collapsed in Church, it was clear that he was lifeless," said another source.
The deceased's eldest child Vimbai Jaricha nee Matange said the family will always cherish that their father died in Church.
"His death was a surprise to us. He was a great father who made sure that all his children are educated. We are really grateful for what he did to us. We will bury him on his birthday and we will celebrate the life he had with us," said Jaricha.
Matange's younger brother Josephat said the death was sudden and described Noah as a jovial and strong Christian.
Matange is survived by wife Angela, five children and four grandchildren.
