65 farmers refute CSFAZ resignation reports

CHIREDZI – Sixty-five members of the Commercial Sugarcane Farmers Association of Zimbabwe (CSFAZ) who were alleged to have renounced their membership of the organization in protest against the election of Addmore Hwarare to the position of chairman of the organisation have distanced themselves from the report.
Addressing an executive meeting last week, Hwarare said 65 sugarcane farmers who were part of the group said to have resigned have written affidavits disowning the resignation letters. He said the same farmers have also written to Tongaat Hulett to approve deductions of their levies to the association.
A total of 100 farmers were said to have resigned.
"We are in possession of 65 affidavits from sugarcane farmers who are our members who are disowning a position which was taken on their behalf by certain individuals. In the affidavits the farmers are saying they had never resigned or instructed Tongaat Hulett to stop deducting their levies. These are dirty shenanigans by the previous executive members who are bitter because they used to benefit from the association through shady deals which are being exposed by an on-going audit" said Hwarare.
