    Mutirikwi Sub-catchment proposes $384 000 budget

    MASVINGO -The Mutirikwi sub-catchment Council has proposed a $384 115 budget for the year 2018 which has since been sent to the Ministry of Enviroment, Water and Climate for approval.
    This was disclosed at the sub-catchment's annual general meeting held at the Chevron Hotel on Monday last week. Runde Catchment held annual general meetings for all its five sub-catchments including Mutirikwi last week.
    Employment costs will chew up a large part of the budget, accounting for 27.1% of the total budget. The next biggest item is programmes that will account for 18,3% of the total budget while acquisition of fixed assets is going to account for 6,9% according to the treasurer's report that was presented at the AGM.
    Meanwhile in the same report, the treasurer, Dzapasi Mukomberi presented the statement of income for the catchment which showed that $397 843 was earned between January and October 2017. The bulk of the money or $358 222 of that came from sub-catchment levy and water fund brought in $31 786.
    The AGM was also supposed to appoint seven new councillors whose terms had lapsed but only four were replaced.
    The new four councillors who came in are John Kavhumbura, Engineer Edward Mukaratirwa, Ellina Chatikobo and Wellington Chinoda.
    Engineer Norman Maisiri was elected as the council chairman while Martin Mubviro the CEO for Masvingo Rural District Council became his vice.
    Norman Maisiri, Dzapasi Mukomberi and Wellington Chinoda were elected to represent the sub-catchment at the catchment council.
