FC Platinum ropes in foreigners ahead of African Safari

ZVISHAVANE–Premier Soccer League 2017 Champions FC Platinum have roped in the services of foreign based players to beef their squad ahead of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League 2018 edition.
FC Platinum communications and liaison officer Chido Chizondo confirmed that a Cameroonian Albert Eonde is already in the country for trials with the platinum miners and Ibrahim Dauda a Ghanaian is expected next week.
"We are expecting two foreigners Albert and Ibrahim for trials and if they make it, definitely the club would sign them. We hope to come up with a powerful squad at the beginning of next year that is very competitive to clinch the CAF Champions League Cup," she said.
The two foreigners are strikers and they are expected to provide the much needed firepower upfront which has been the club's Achilles' heel in the last season when they found the back of the net 40 times in 34 outings which is not attractive for a team that is expected to conquer Africa.
The shortage of young strikers in the country saw FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza engaging the services of old horses Takesure Chinyama and Mukhokheli Dube who used their vast experience in the front line to secure crucial victories in the last half of the season.
The miners have hit the ground running on the transfer market and have so far secured midfielders Liberty Chakoroma and Kelvin Madzongwe from Ngezi Platinum and Harare City respectively, while Highlanders' Rahman Kutsanzira is also understood to be on his way to the champions.
Since local strikers struggled in the last six seasons with Dominic Chungwa the golden boot winner only managing 17 goals only during the whole season, FC Platinum are somehow justified in looking beyond the borders for gunslingers.
