Prostitution not affected by Ritz closure

MASVINGO-It is business as usual for ladies of the night despite the closure of 26 year old Ritz Nite Club more than three weeks ago.
"Our business has not been affected at all by the closure of Ritz, as you can see cars stream here as usual and our clients are coming as usual because we line up the street like before. We are only worried about live shows, but those don't bring much business to us because fans will be after joy and not sex unlike now because you know when one comes its strictly for business," said one lady who only identified herself as Tatenda from Jazire in Rujeko C.
Another lady of the night with a Manyika accent said there is no difference between now and the time the Club was open.
"Our clients are visiting as usual, as long as they find us here there is no problem, we offer services normally, anyway we never used to offer the services in the night club so there is no difference," said the light skinned slim lady.
Maria Makwara, the Operations Manager for Regency Group, said "the Club is not closed but it's under renovations and soon it will be functioning as normal".
A visit at the entertainment joint showed no signs of renovations going on at the home of leisure in the ancient city which used to host such legends like the late Tongai 'Dhewa' Moyo, Thomas Mapfumo and Alick 'Baba Sharo' Macheso.
Sources say the famous Club was forcibly closed by the law enforcement agents after several warnings to acquire an operating license fell on deaf ears. It is also said mismanagement and failure to pay workers also contributed to the closure of the night spot in the red zone of Masvingo.
Efforts to get a comment from Roy Gwese who was leasing the club from Regency Group were unsuccessful as his mobile number went unanswered until the time of going to Press.
