    Masvingo City Council gets 13 accolades

    MASVINGO - Masvingo City Council can walk with its head high after it bagged 13 accolades from different organisations for notable performance in the period 2016 to 2017.
    The awards which came from organisations like Gender links, Megafest and Public Sector Management Authority were unveiled at recently during a function attended by Mayor Hubert Fidze and Town Clerk, Adolf Gusha.
    Most of the awards noted the City Council for its work in the areas of water supply, refuse collection and risk management.
    Gusha attributed the awards to the  collective effort of workers, management and councillors. He also paid tribute to his predecessors.
    "I acknowledge the ground work which was laid by our predecessors; former town clerks and former councillors. Unity in our current council contributes immensely to council's success," Gusha said.
    Mayor Hubert Fidze also commended and stressed on the importance of collective effort.
    Fidze went on to say that as a council they are working flat out in implementing the water augmentation project. 
    "We are working flat out to increase water supply from 30 to 60 mega litres per day," said Fidze.
    The awards and runner-up awards include the Most Improved Service Delivery Local Authority, 2016 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Medal in Civic Participation Category, Inaugural Public Sector Management Award for Most Improved Service Delivery Local Authority Category for 2015, 2016 Financial Management Award of Excellence in Financial Turn Around of the year, 2016 Financial Management Award of Excellence in Revenue Collection, Credit Control and Risk Management First Runner Up; 2016 Financial Management Award of Excellence in Overall Best Financial Management Second Runner Up; 2016 Chief Executive Officer of the Year Category 2nd Runner Up awarded to Town Clerk Adolf Gusha; 2016 Project Best Practice – Governance Category 1stPrize in Promoting Women Participation in Gender Budgeting; 2016 Project Best Practice – Centre of Excellence 1st Prize in Gender Mainstreaming; certificate of Excellence for recognising in Community Engagement; Outstanding Local Government Leader of the Year 2017 Winner; Outstanding Accounting, Auditing and Investment Leader of the Year 2017  1st Runner Up and Continuous Participation in Driver of the Year Competitions.
