    Pote named most outstanding Megafest Business Person

    GWERU – Prominent Midlands Businessman who is into various sectors of the economy, Antony Clever Pote of Pote Holdings was named the Most Outstanding Megafest Business Person Of The Year, Midlands Province at an awards ceremony held at The Village lodge in Gweru on Friday.
    Midlands State University Vice Chancellor Professor Hwekwete was the guest of honour at the event.
    Pote who runs probably the most successful indigenous business in the Southern Region built on solid track record received the biggest award of the night and two of his managers Tamson Mtombeni and Kudzai Kanjanda walked away with individual prizes for good managerial skills.
    His Company Makanaka Investiments was also named the Company of The Year.
    Other companies that had a good night  at the award ceremony were River Valley where Smelly Dube and her husband were named Businesswoman and Businessman of The Year respectively River Valley Proporties clinched yet another award as it was named Best Social Responsible Organisation of the year.
    Mtombeni received The Manager Of The Year Award in the male category. 
    Mtombeni won in the category where the other contenders were Emmanuel Musara of Kwekwe Town Council, Tom Nyerenda of The Village Lodge and Washington Chandiwana of Gweru Poly.
    Nokutenda Zhou who is the marketing manager at The Village Lodge won The Young Manager of The Year Award and Kudzai Kanjanda  was voted First Runner Up. Amandar Mafa who is the manager at Antelope Park was voted Second Runner-Up.
    FC Platinum Holdings and Boc gas which came first and second respectively in The Company of The Year category.
    The Village Lodge was also the First Runner-up in the Most Consistent Organisation of the  year.
    Training Centres that walked with their heads high are Mkoba Teacher's College  and Progressive Christian College which were named Outstanding Training Institutions of The Year and first runner up respectively.
    Midlands Christian College is runner up in the Excellence of The Year category.
    Washington Chandiwana, Gweru Poly Principal is the winner in the Manager of The Year  category while Kwekwe Poly's  Emmanuel Musara is the 2nd runner up.
    Kwekwe Town Council and Tongogara Rural District Council surprisingly came 1st  and 2nd  runner-up behind Zvishavane Town Council that has been bedevilled with problems where the council chairman is on suspension while the town secretary also served a six month suspension this year.
    Tinashe Manzungu of Zimbuild is the CEO of the year.
    Prof Hwekwete hailed Megafest for holding such awards which he said motivated and celebrated champions in business.
    "These awards are very important; they motivate and celebrate champions in business and l am happy Megafest is doing this.
    "I believe the adjudication of these awards were very tight because we really have quite a number of well performing business people in Midlands," said Hwekwete
    Speaking on behalf of Pote, Mtombeni said that Dr Pote deserves the honour because he is a hard worker.
    "Dr Pote is the director of Pote Holdings and he is a hard working man and for him to receive such an award is just a reflection of his hard work. This man is directing a business with 800 workers spread all over the Southern region. For us it's a pleasure to work with such a visionary leader," said Mtombeni.
