CHIREDZI – Commercial Sugarcane Farmers Association of Zimbabwe (CSFAZ) which is the biggest farmers` organization in Chiredzi has rescheduled its elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) from October 27 to November 24, 2017, a senior official has said.
This was done in order to allow the setting up of an independent committee that will run the elections.
CSFAZ Secretary General Roy Bhila confirmed the development after a council meeting resolved to set up an independent committee which will run the election process. The committee will be made up of five people who will represent the association's five regions. They will deal with the vetting of all prospective candidates as well as approve the voters' role.
The 27th of October also clashed with an important event where the farmers are welcoming Masvingo's new Minister of State for the province.
"I confirm that we met last Friday as management committee and council and resolved to move our elections to November 24, 2017 to allow an independent committee to take over the running of the elections according to our constitution. Vetting of candidates and all other issues related to the elections will be done by that committee.
"The deadline for registration is November 3, 2017 thereafter a voters role will be compiled. There will also be time for voters' role inspection time," said Bhila.
