CHIRRA executive, Chikomba CEO clash over farm

CHIVHU – Police had to intervene on Monday when members of the Chikomba Residents and Ratepayers Alliance (CHIRRA) who had visited their local rural district council Chief Executive Officer ended up exchanging harsh words with him and the situation almost degenerated into a physical confrontation.
The meeting became so rowdy that a Police officer had to be called to ensure that there was calm.
CHIRRA chairman Collen Zvarevashe and secretary general David Marufu confirmed the ugly spat but declined to give details on why they had gone to Luckson Mutara's office.
Sources told The Mirror that they could hear Mutara ordering the two to get out of his office.
The two however, dug in and refused to leave and accused Mutara of mismanagement. Mutara initially threatened to sue the two for tarnishing his name but later ordered the two to leave his offices.
Chikomba RDC CEO Mutara confirmed that he clashed with CHIRRA members but eventually managed to contain them. He said they were violent in their approach.
The Mirror gathered that the two CHIRRA executives went to the council offices to enquire about Swazfontein Farm which was allegedly taken over by council thereby leaving occupants with no place to go.local news
