CHIKOMBA – Joey Bimha, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has opened a state of the art sports bar at Chinyudze Business Centre close to his rural home in Headman Madamombe's area in Chikomba.
The bar named Mazorodze built at a place which used to house a dilapidated grinding mill that belonged to Ambassador Bimha's late father.
The bar which is in Ward 15 is two kilometres away from the Roman Catholic-run Assisi Mission.
The bar was officially opened by the Minister of Industry and Commerce Mike Chakanaka Bimha who is Joey's young brother on Friday last week. Tens of people including councillors and district Government officials attended the function.
The bar which is cute by any standards has modern facilities including a television fitted inside, snooker and a shade. The shopping area has two other shops and a grinding mill.
Addressing the gathering at the official opening, Minister Bimha said the sports bar is not only there to generate profit but to provide a decent place for people to relax and share ideas hence the name, Mazorodze Bar.
He said that the place now occupied by the bar used to house a grinding mill owned by their forefather way back.
Minister Bimha also took the opportunity to give the history and origins of his family. He said the family in Chikomba originated from one Muto who came from Chief Svove's area in Hwedza with him being one of the sons of Mberikwakarimwa.
Muto had several children and one of them was called Mazorodze who also had several children including Mhanza. One of Mhanza's children named Gweta had three sons and the elder one was named Mazorodze who is Ambassador Bimha.
Chikomba RDC Chairman Pardon Mudzimu applauded Minister Bimha for his contribution towards development in the constituency.
"Most developments in the constituency are spearheaded and led by our MP Bimha but credit comes to the council chairman and his councillors so I want to thank him for that," said Mudzimu.
