Mwenezi DA to intervene in Ruvengo headmanship wrangle

MWENEZI – Mwenezi District Administrator (DA), Rosemary Chingwe will soon intervene in a headmanship wrangle that is threatening to tear two Ruvengo families apart.
Chief Maranda confirmed the wrangle by the two families, Majoni and Mbhadhi under his area and told The Mirror that he has since referred the matter to the DA for her intervention.
The Mirror is told that the headmanship rotates among four families which are Mbhadhi, Tadios, Teverai and Majoni. Sources said that the Majoni family is the one that is now supposed to take over from the Teverai family after the death of Teverai Aaron but Mbhadhi family is said to be insisting on taking over. Sources said that Majoni, Tadios and Teverai families have now teamed up against Mbhadhi family which they accuse of trying to get back to the reigns for the second time before Majoni family gets its turn.
Chingwe also confirmed the wrangle although she has not yet visited the families due to resource constrains.
"I have handed over the matter to the DA and you can come and witness the case," said Chief Maranda without giving more details.
Peter Ngwenya from the Majoni family also confirmed the wrangle and said it was now his family's turn to assume the reigns.
"According to our custom the next family to take over is Majoni. What is causing all these misunderstandings is that the Mbhadhi family now wants to have the reigns for the second time before us. We cannot allow that," said Ngwenya.
"I am supposed to go and look into the matter. This will happen as soon as I get fuel and a car for the trip," said Chingwe.
Efforts to get a comment from acting headman, Square Ngwenya were fruitless.
