    Mwenezi businessman arrested for not paying wages

    MWENEZI - Prominent Lundi businessman Elvis Sibanda (37) was last week arrested after he failed to pay his security guard a salary for a period of nine months. 
    Sibanda who is understood to be an owner a lodge and several grocery shops at the business centre was dragged to Mwenezi court for failing to pay a sum of US$960 to his security guard Zephania Gono. 
    Sibanda appeared before Mwenezi Magistrate Honest Musiiwa who remanded the matter to this week. 
    "This is my first time to deal with a case like this, so I need some time to see if this case can be heard here or at the Labour Court," said Musiiwa. 
    The State alleges that during the month of January 2016, Gono was employed by Sibanda to work at Giant Lodge at Lundi Business Centre as a security guard.   
    Gono was entitled to a monthly salary of US$100, 00. 
    The value owed to the complainant isUS$960, 00.     
    Angelinah Makonya prosecuted.
