GWERU – Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa was in Gweru last week where he officially opened the National Building Society Bank and its housing project that will have 1 400 housing units.
Mnangagwa who was accompanied by the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Prisca Mupfumira went to the housing scheme where he was shown the demo house.
He later went to the CBD for the official opening of the Bank.
The four-roomed houses will cost $14 000 and beneficiaries will have an opportunity to pay over 25 years.
Mnangagwa praised Government for such an initiative which he said was meant to provide affordable houses to home seekers.
"These are the brains of the ruling party and the objective is affordable accommodation to our people and this is what has been witnessed here. I want to encourage everyone even the low income earning to open accounts with this bank so that you get a house at an affordable mortgage," said Mnangagwa.
