    GZU lecturer Dr Munongo dies


    MASVINGO- Dr Simon Munongo, a lecturer in the department of Economics at the Great Zimbabwe University has died.
    He was 36.
    Munongo died on Monday at a Harare hospital after a short illness.
     Speaking after a mass held in his honour at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral, Pauline Sanangurai the sister to the late described Munongo as a strong man who was very prayerful and a unifier.
    "We have lost an important person in the family, loving, sincere and considerate we are saddened by the loss but we believe he has been promoted to the glory of the Lord" she said.
    Father Emmanuel Zengeya the Cathedral Administrator highlighted in his sermon that the Parish had lost a devoted Christian, who was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Guild and was part of the Finance Committee at Diocese level.
    Professor Pilot Mudhovozi who spoke on behalf of the GZU vice chancellor, Prof Zvobgo said that Munongo was a hardworking man who was full of perseverance. He was elected president of the Lecturers Association soon after joining GZU in 2009.
    Munongo was born at Bondolfi Mission Clinic in Masvingo Rural. He did his form 1 to 6 at Gokomere High School. He acquired an Honours degree and Master's degree in economics at the University of Zimbabwe and got a doctorate with UNISA in September 2016.
