GWERU – The rape case of a Hertfordshire Park woman in Gweru is a case of a fish jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
The woman (name withheld) had her house ransacked by a gang of robbers and after a while she ran to a neighbour's house only to get the door opened for her by the robbers.
This time the robbers did not just ransack the house, they went further as they raped her and her neighbour who is the mother at the house.
Gweru Police is investigating the case which was reported under case number RRB3113026.
Sources said the victim knocked at the door and it was opened by one of the robbers who ordered her to enter into the house. As soon as she entered the house she was ordered by one of the robbers to surrender all her valuables including a Samsung cellphone.
Two of the accused persons dragged the owner of the house into one of the bedrooms where they took turns to rape her.
Another robber took the woman who had come to seek help into another room and raped her.
The same gang is said to have gone to another house in the same neighbourhood but failed to rape the woman, before they vanished without a trace.
The victims were attended at Gweru General Hospital.
Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende said that she is not aware of the case but will find out.
