CHIKOMBA – Prominent Chivhu businessman Geshem Muchanyu has allegedly been threatened by two ZANU PF activists for keeping MDC T tenants in his commercial building.
Although Muchanyu declined to comment on the matter The Mirror is told that the two alleged Zanu PF activists, Moses Mataruse and one identified as Ngirazi were not happy that Muchanyu allowed MDC T district secretary Christopher Muchenje to rent at his Muchanyu Complex in Chivhu.
It is alleged that Mataruse and Ngirazi went and warned Muchanyu that his building would be bombed if he kept MDC T tenants.
Although Muchanyu declined to comment, Muchenje said it was true that there were threats against the businessman.
"Yes it is true that some threats were made. This happened when we had gone out for some party activities and Matarutse and Ngirazi threatened Muchenyu that he risks having his premises or homestead bombed for accommodating me.
"My landlord told me about the incident the following morning and I reported the matter to the Police. Police assured me that an investigation team would be dispatched," said Muchenje.
Efforts to get a comment from the Police were fruitless.
Matarutse however denied the allegations when he was asked for comment and Ngirazi was not reachable
Mataruse said he was not a manager of Muchenyu's buildings and he would therefore not determine how the later uses them.
"How can I question the way he uses his building? If he told you that then he is lying to you. I don't know about this because I don't manage his properties," said Matarutse.
