BUHERA – Twenty-year-old Spiwe Kwenda from Mututi village under Chief Nyashanu, Buhera was on Tuesday granted a peace order against her parents after the couple tried to withdraw her from her husband because he had not paid lobola.
Kwenda told Magistrate Dennis Mangosi that her parents Ian Kwenda and Violet Dhuvadhuve were disturbing her marriage buy trying to force her to come back home because they wanted the husband to pay lobola. She also accused her mother of refusing with her clothes which she wanted to collect from home.
Dhuvadhuve could however, not hide her disapproval of her daughter's union.
She said in 2014 she tried to collect the daughter because she wanted her to finish her studies but she ran away from home and went back to her husband.
She said she and her husband now wanted the daughter to return home until her husband pays lobola.
The couple were adamant when the magistrate made his ruling that they will not let their daughter go until their son-in-law pays three beasts for bride price.
The Magistrate told the couple to follow procedure when they demand their lobola.
