    Abused Kwekwe child flogged while tied to a chair

    KWEKWE – An abused 10-year-old Kwekwe boy was flogged by his father while facing downwards with his hands and legs tied to a chair, a Kwekwe magistrate has heard.
    His crime was that he had lost family goats.
    The sordid story told in the court exposed a tormented boy as he on the day that he lost the goats did not get into the house but slept in the bathroom in fear of his abusive father.
    Kwekwe Magistrate Vimbai Mutukwa sentenced the father Willard Sikhati of Melrose farm in Redcliff to one year in prison for the crime.
    Vincent Chimwenje representing the State said that during the month of June 2017 at Melrose Farm the complainant was told by the accused to locate goats at the grazing lands and drive them into the kraal. The complainant lost the goats on the way from the grazing lands  after they ran away into a bush
    In fear of his father the complainant went back home and slept in the bathroom.
    The angry father found the complainant, took him into the house and tied him to a chair before assaulting him several times.
    Complainant sustained multiple bruises and laceration on his back due to the assault.
    He was referred to Kwekwe General Hospital for medication and the medical report was used as exhibit in court.
